N81 Cycle Scheme Fortunestown & Killinarden Junctions

It’s great to see completion of the N81 Cycle Scheme, with DBFL delivering significant upgrades to pedestrian and cycle facilities on behalf of South Dublin County Council. The scheme  forms an important gateway into the county and is a key route both in terms of commuting and connectivity for the local community and schools.

DBFL provided civil and transportation engineering services from Preliminary Design through to Detailed Design and Construction on the N81 scheme, which included the junctions with Fortunestown Road and Killinarden.

Works completed included road and junction realignments, construction of new off-road cycle tracks and footpaths, pedestrian and cyclist safety improvements at the junctions and upgrades to existing bus stops along the route.

In conjunction with our colleagues at Áit Urbanism + Landscape, enhancements to the landscaping and public realm were delivered to the adjoining large open space area (3 hectares) including attractive new seating areas, extensive tree planting and public lighting.
