BackNewbridge South Orbital Relief Road
The Newbridge South Orbital Relief Road is now complete and open. DBFL’s Civils & Transportation Team provided planning, detailed design, procurement and construction stage services on the project which forms part of the Newbridge South Orbital Route between the R445 Naas Dual Carriageway and the Great Connell Road.

The works also included the significant realignment of the existing R445 dual carriageway, provision of key Irish Water Infrastructure and access to Lidl Ireland’s new multi-million euro Regional Distribution Centre. Thanks to our client Lidl Ireland for the opportunity and to Kildare County Council for their assistance in delivering a great project and excellent work by Murphy International.
The complete project consists of 1.5km of single and dual carriageway road, providing off road cycle and pedestrian facilities, the construction of three new roundabouts and a supply of utility ducting with future proofed water and gas mains.
The single carriageway section is 9.0m wide for approximately 0.6km with a 2.25m wide verge, 1.75m cyclepath and a 2.0m footpath on both sides and 7.5m wide for 0.4km with a 2.25m verge, 2.5m two way off-road cyclepath and 2.0m footpath on one side. The dual carriageway section comprises of two 7.5m wide carriageways with a 2.6m central median and a 0.75m verge for approximately 0.4km.
