N81 Cycle Scheme Fortunestown & Killinarden Junctions

DBFL delivered significant upgrades to pedestrian and cycle facilities on behalf of South Dublin County Council as part of the N81 Cycle Scheme which included the junctions with Fortunestown Road and Killinarden Heights. The scheme forms an important gateway into the county and is a key route both in terms of commuting and connectivity for the local community and schools.

The scheme involved the construction of off-road cycle tracks, realignment of existing junctions, construction of new footpaths, drainage design, bus stop improvements and signalised junction upgrades along the N81 at Jobstown. In conjunction with our colleagues at Áit Urbanism + Landscape, enhancements to the landscaping and public realm were delivered to the adjoining large open space area (3 hectares) including attractive new seating areas, extensive tree planting and public lighting.

DBFL provided civil and transportation engineering services from Preliminary Design through to Detailed Design and Construction on the N81 scheme.
