DBFL were commissioned by Dublin Airport Authority (daa) for the Design, Construction, Commissioning and Testing of approximately 1Km of new road construction within the Airside area of Dublin Airport.  DBFL provided full Design, Contract and NEC Project Management services for this project from its detailed design right through to its construction phase and handover. The project has been delivered on time and within budget.

The new road, known as the West Apron Crossing (WAC) now provides a new service link between the West Apron area and the main apron area of the Airport. The previously existing and extremely deteriorating 4Km Perimeter Road was the only service link road connecting these two areas together.

The works involved the crossing of a number of IAA (Irish Aviation Authority)

airside-controlled areas including Apron 5G, Taxiway F-Outer, Taxiway Romeo and Runway 16/34. Therefore, along with being designed in accordance with all relevant roads and drainage standards such as the TII and GDSDS specifications, the WAC has also been designed in accordance with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations for
Aerodrome Design and has a design life of 20 years.

Construction was completed on the new road in early November 2019.
