Dunmore Road R683 Green Route, Waterford
The Phase 3 section of the Greenroute is a 1.2km route is currently the missiing link connecting the completed Phase 1 (to the west) and Phase 2 (to the east) Greenroute sections of the R683 Dunmore Road corridor. The Dunmore Road corridor is one of the busiest commutor routes serving the city centre inaddition to providing access to University Hospital Waterford.
The design brief sought to maximise the level of priority afforded to public transport services and cyclists, enhancing safety levels for pedestrains, whilst retaining the unique ’emergency’ access requirements at University Hospital Waterford.
Completed in 2015, DBFL undertook the following tasks;
1) Initial site audits, user audits, data collection and traffic surveys.
2) Scheme Option Development
3) Key Stakeholder Consultation exercises
4) Network modelling exercises (Paramics)
5) Preliminary Design and Scheme Costings
6) PSDP Services throughout the duration of this commission.
The identified solution, which includes the procurement of private third party lands along the corridor involves the provision of improved pedestrain fcailities, new cycle lanes / tracks, enhanced bus interchanges, new bus priority facilities, and conversion of existing DMRB rounabouts to (a) a traffic signal controlled layout and (b) turbo roundabout arrangement.
DBFL has completed the Feasibility and Option Development Stage, Key Stakeholder Consultation and Preliminary Design Stage.
