Residential Development at Greystones Marina

The project is located within the 9 hectare (22.5 acre) site of Greystones Harbour & Marina, Greystones, Co. Wicklow. The site for this development lies on a coastal strip of reclaimed land between the Railway Line / Cliff Walk and the recently constructed Marina. The overall development is designed to provide leisure, recreational, open space, marine facilities and mixed use residential, commercial, civic and social amenities centred around the new harbour and marina, which is substantially complete and which has mooring facilities for up to 230 leisure craft.

The project involves the construction of 153 houses and 205 apartments comprising a mixture of two-storey semi-detached, two-storey terraced and three storey duplex units.

The Foundations to the houses comprise top driven precast concrete piles into the gravel / clay with precast concrete ground beams and precast concrete ground floor slabs. The superstructure to the houses comprises timber frame construction.

Civil engineering requirements include provision of foul and surface water drainage services, surface water outfalls at marina wall, petrol interceptors and watermains, as well as   provision of roadways, footpaths, paved car-parking spaces, boundary walls etc.

The Public Plaza comprises an area of 9,340m² with both hard and soft landscaping. The works include underground drainage including a foul pumping station, a fuel pumping station, fuel tanks, attenuation tanks and underground ducting to serve all the M & E utilities on-site.

Some of the foul drainage in particular is in the region of 3m to 4m deep in places.

The public plaza has a carpark suitable for 30 to 40 cars on a granite paved surface, the rest of the square is a mixture of granite paving slabs and setts. The northern side of the plaza is mainly soft landscaping with footpaths running through it.

The main foul and watermain rising main was excavated up along Victoria Road under the railway bridge to the nearby pumping station. This involved excavation adjacent to the bridge abutment and thus close liaison with Irish Rail.

DBFL are providing full civil, structural and PSDP services on this development.
