Greystones Southern Access Route
Wicklow County Council
Preparation of full design, tender and construction documentation for 2.0km of 22.0m wide long term dual carriageway, including an agricultural underpass, 60m diameter, 4 arm roundabout and an on-and-off ramp connecting the road to the N11.
The design comprised of a full drainage design, including a catchment study for the design of the Kilpedder Stream Culvert crossing under the road, design of other services, roadmarkings and signage and accommodation works.
Wicklow County Council advertised this project as a design build tender in 2003. We partnered SM Morris and prepared a comprehensive detailed design of the proposed road in little over 5 weeks to assist them in value engineering and designing their winning tender.
The construction of the project was successfully carried out in an atmosphere of total co-operation between Wicklow County Council, their consultants SM Morris and ourselves with all parties contributing to the solving of problems where encountered.
Because of this successful approach, SM Morris were instructed to construct an interim link (400m) to the southbound carriageway on the NII for which DBFL prepared design drawings for approval and for construction.
