Light Up Your Bike

Our DBFL cyclists have been getting winter-ready as part of the National Transport Authority and TFI Smarter Travel Programme’s Light Up Your Bike campaign, with a reminder of just how important it is to be seen on the road.

DBFL’s Smarter Travel Team held a ‘Dusk Café’, running a short visibility demonstration comparing different bicycle lighting setups, from basic commuter lights through to higher-output winter commuting lights, highlighting the difference that appropriate lighting can make during darker conditions.

And to add a little friendly competition to our Light Up Your Bike Campaign, we’re running a DBFL photo competition all week for the best-lit bike.

For many of our team, walking, cycling and public transport are part of the everyday commute. They’re also an important part of the places and transport networks we help to plan and design.

Experiencing those journeys ourselves on our commute, gives us a valuable perspective on what makes active travel feel safer, easier and more attractive for the people using our streets every day.
