Leeson Lane Office Development wins at the 2026 RIAI Awards
Selected as one of just 24 award-winning projects from 175 entries, Leeson Lane has been commended for its sensitive integration of heritage restoration and contemporary design within Dublin’s historic Georgian core.
The development combines the careful refurbishment of Spruce House, a historic former dispensary, with the construction of a new seven-storey office building, creating a sustainable, flexible and future-focused government workplace in the heart of Dublin.

Awards on the double for DBFL at the Women in Construction Awards with Leonie Lawler scooping the Best Marketing & Communications Leadership Award and DBFL winning the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Strategy of the Year.

Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2026
A significant project win at the Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards, with John Paul Construction winning Rosslare Europort for Civil Engineering project – over €50M category.
DBFL had overall responsibility for all the civil and structural aspects of the Rosslare Europort works as well as coordination of all site-wide below ground services. The project consists of over 35 buildings, covering various import and export functions across the site along with circa 120,000sqm of concrete trailer parking area and associated works. The overall site is some 200,000sqm.
Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2026
A second win at the Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards, in the up to €10M Civil Engineering category with Murphy winning with the Airton Road Extension Scheme.
DBFL is providing design, contract administration, and resident engineering services during the construction phase of the Airton Road Extension Scheme. This project includes constructing a new link road from Belgard Road to Cookstown Industrial Estate in Tallaght.
ACEI Engineering Excellence Awards – Double win for Townsend Street
Awards on the double for DBFL with the Renewal of 180-187 Townsend Street winning both the Sustainability Built Environment Award and the Structural Award for small projects at the ACEI Engineering Excellence Awards. This important adaptive re-use project in Dublin city centre transformed a long-vacant residential block into a modern, accessible and socially impactful housing development, which the Peter McVerry Trust are now using to help address homelessness in the city.
Carriageworks Façade at Castleforbes wins the Element Category Award at the Irish Concrete Society’s Annual Awards
Carriageworks Façade at Castleforbes won the Element Category Award at the Irish Concrete Society awards. The Carriageworks scheme at Castleforbes is continuing to take shape, with the recent delivery and installation of distinctive red pigmented concrete panels for the landmark 18-storey tower by Techrete UK & Ireland & John Paul Construction.
Danny Pio Murphy wins Future Leader D&I Award
DBFL’s Danny Pio Murphy, was announced as joint winner of the D&I Leader/Emerging Leader Award at the National Diversity and Inclusion Awards. The EDI team were delighted to be there to share this special moment with Danny and to celebrate a truly outstanding achievement. The award recognises his phenomenal contribution to EDI both within DBFL and across the wider engineering sector.

DBFL won the Conservation Award for our Primark Bank Buildings Belfast project at the Institution of Structural Engineers inaugural Irish awards. DBFL engineers helped devise some amazing engineering innovations to overcome the unique complexities and challenges of this dramatic resurrection project.
Ulster Canal wins Infrastructure Award at the Irish Concrete Society Awards
Ulster Canal Restoration Project – Phase 2, Clonfad Syphon, Aqueduct, and Bridge, has won the Infrastructure Award at the Irish Concrete Society Awards! This exceptional project, delivered in collaboration with Waterways Ireland, Doran Consulting, Jons Civil Engineering Company, Banagher Precast, Shay Murtagh, and Wright Quarry Products, was praised by the jury for its innovative use of concrete in restoring the historic canal.
Tallaght Stadium Awarded Highly Commended at Irish Concrete Society Awards
Tallaght Stadium North Stand & Refurbishment project has been awarded Highly Commended in the Building Category at the Irish Concrete Society’s 42nd Annual Awards. This recognition reflects the innovative design, technical excellence and extraordinary collaboration that went into bringing this project to life. The North Stand not only enhances the capacity and atmosphere of the stadium, but also showcases how concrete can be both functional and visually striking in public infrastructure.
Declan Haugh wins ACEI Future Leaders Award
DBFL’s Declan Haugh won the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI) Future Leaders’ Award. The DBFL team were there to support and celebrate with Declan as he accepted the award which recognises “rising stars who are shaping the future of our industry with innovation, leadership and excellence”.
