Craddockstown Active Travel Scheme

25 November 2025

DBFL is proud to have delivered Civil and Transportation Design services for the Craddockstown Active Travel and Safe Routes to School project. The scheme, for Kildare County Council, involved the partial realignment of Craddockstown Road between the Ballycane Road junction and Naas Community National School and Craddockstown Education Campus, with the aim of enhancing pedestrian and cyclist facilities and improving safety for all non-vehicular road users.

The 0.4 km scheme, constructed by Clonmel Enterprises Ltd, delivers a significantly improved public realm, incorporating  2-way cycle tracks, footways on both sides of the road, a raised toucan crossing, traffic-calming measures, Safe Routes to School markings and bollards , and raised entry treatment to provide continuous level crossings for pedestrians and cyclists at an existing junction.

DBFL’s provided Designer, Employer’s Representative, Supervision and PSDP services for the Detailed Design, Tender, Construction and Handover stages. The delivered scheme contributes to a safer and more accessible environment for the Craddockstown / Naas local area.
