Official Start of R132 Connectivity Project
DBFL’s team were delighted to mark the official start of construction on the R132 Connectivity Project in Swords last week. The official sod turning ceremony marked a key milestone in this transformative infrastructure project designed to make day-to-day movement through Swords easier by improving walking and cycling routes, strengthening east–west connections between homes and local amenities whilst delivering a safer more user-friendly road layout.
The ceremony was attended by Minister Darragh O’Brien TD, Fingal Mayor Cllr Tom OLeary, FCC Chief Executive AnnMarie Farrelly as well as teams from Fingal, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and National Transport Authority with whom DBFL have been working on this project from concept stage and now into construction which will be delivered by Murphy
The project prioritises pedestrian and cyclist safety by reallocating road space, providing safe at-grade crossing points at key locations, pedestrian and cycle lanes along the corridor and at junctions, improved traffic management and upgrades to bus infrastructure aligning with the MetroLink and BusConnects route planning in the area.
