Shanganagh Castle, Shankill
DBFL are proud to have provided Structural and Civil Engineering services for the Shanganagh Castle residential development in Shankill, Co. Dublin.
Delivered for our client, the The Land Development Agency (LDA), in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (DLRCC) and Walls Construction Limited, this landmark scheme represents one of the largest public housing developments in the state.
Situated on a 9.69-hectare site, the project has delivered 597 new homes comprising 8no. blocks of apartments of up to seven storeys and 51 houses, along with a creche, retail units, commercial and community amenities. Founded on piled foundations, the apartments blocks superstructure was constructed using precast concrete walls and floor slabs while the houses were built of traditional masonry construction.
DBFL’s Civil and Structural services included drainage and SuDS design, water supply infrastructure, road and junction design, and flood risk assessment. One of the key features of the site is the existing pond south east of the site. As part of the drainage strategy, the existing pond will be maintained by routing a portion of the surface water runoff through the pond. This is to preserve the existing water level and the ecology of the pond.
The development was designed for a phased delivery, supporting the creation of a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive new community in Shankill.
