8.5km Active Travel Link across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown

13 June 2025

DBFL is delighted to be working with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council on the “DLR Connector”, a walking, cycling and public realm improvement scheme which will connect neighbourhoods and villages east to west across Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County via a safe and accessible walking and cycling route with public realm and greening improvements. The scheme is one of the most ambitious and largest urban Active Travel Schemes being delivered in Ireland.

The new infrastructure will bridge the gap between current and planned active travel routes, resulting in the delivery of 8.5km of continuous cycling and walking facilities from Dún Laoghaire to Dundrum. The facilities will enhance safety for all road users and improve access to local schools, shops and amenities by active travel modes.

DLRCC are currently seeking views from the public to help inform the scheme design. A non-statutory public consultation is being held on the scheme from 3rd June to 15th July 2025. DBFL are working with M-CO
on this consultation process which includes a number of face to face and online information sessions, the first of which took place in Dundrum this week with great levels of engagement to date.
