DBFL Internship Opportunities
We are currently welcoming internship applications from BEng and MEng students of civil, structural or transportation engineering. Opportunities are available in each of our four offices, Dublin, Cork, Galway and Waterford.
As an intern at one of the country’s largest Irish-owned consultancies, you will be given the chance to work within our innovative engineering teams, using the latest design technologies, learning about modern engineering techniques, all the while being mentored by some of the most experienced engineering professionals in the industry. And you’ll get site experience so you can see the implementation of those designs on the ground.
You will get a real flavour of DBFL’s unique, empowering culture while learning how a leading engineering consultancy operates. But we also know how to have fun so there will be loads of social events too! As an Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited Employer, learning and development is central to the progression of all DBFL staff, and interns are no different. We hope what you learn with us as an intern might encourage and inspire you to return to our Graduate Development Programme when your studies are complete.
We encourage applications from talented students of all levels and offer internships of differing durations throughout the year to suit your studies. However, we do recommend that internships of at least 12 weeks are considered so you receive a meaningful and broad experience of the professional world.
If you are interested in applying for an Internship at DBFL please complete the form at the bottom of this page, inserting the words ‘Internship Application’ in the Comments section. Then submit the form to us along with your CV. We look forward to discussing our internship opportunities with you.
Testimonials
DBFL were one of the only companies that had an emphasis on site visits during your internship.
I got to work on a wide range of projects, no day was the same, and I really enjoyed the open-door policy and where you could ask anyone a question.
DBFL’s investment and focus on your path from graduate to chartership is brilliant and a big reason why I returned as a graduate.
It’s great to be part of such a diverse and varied team with a lot of expertise.
Taking on a summer work placement with DBFL was the best decision I made during my education.
DBFL’s transport planning division made sure that there was something new to learn every day. Above all else, I got to experience how planning actually occurs outside of the classroom and took my first step in developing working competency as a transport planner.
DBFL is a great environment to start your career. There are great opportunities for growth and experience and there’s always someone to offer advice, help you with what you’re working on, or go out after work on a Friday night!
The central location was a big factor for me. A great insight into consulting engineering as a career, good work-life balance and plenty of opportunities to develop from those around you.
By taking more initiative in designing certain elements – more exposure and responsibility to different aspects of the design process followed.
I got the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers, attend design team meetings and liaise with contractors and site teams.
I was involved in the design of a range of structural elements such as reinforced concrete slabs and beams while I also got to visit site and see some of these RC elements being cast.
