DBFL provided civil engineering design and contract administration services for the construction of a district heating network extension at Tallaght in west Dublin.
The district heating network utilises waste heat from a nearby data centre and will serve the energy demand of existing and future development in the area. DBFL designed and modelled the initial route of the district heating pipework based on detailed surveys and site investigation of existing services in a congested urban environment. The route was agreed with South Dublin County Council including reinstatement and traffic management restrictions. The final pipe design was prepared by FVB Energy in conjunction with DBFL, based on spatial constraints and the Logstor products catalogue. Murphy International and their specialist sub-contractor, New Century Engineering Ltd, installed the network. Detailed co-ordination and collaboration between all parties led to the successful delivery of the district heating network.
