The redevelopment of the existing 18-century Dunboyne Castle is the centre piece of this €30m 180-bedroom hotel complex. The project involved the refurbishment of the listed castle building with the structural strengthening works carried out in a sympathetic and non-destructive manner.
The four-storey bedroom block constructed in load-bearing masonry with precast concrete suspended floors and roof slabs. The main function rooms of the hotel are constructed in structural steelwork using composite metal floors.
Lime-stablised subgrade was used for road construction and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems were used for surface water disposal. DBFL provided full Structural, Civil and Transportation services from initial design through to site supervision at construction stage.
