Two Oaks, Scholarstown Road Completed

DBFL provided civil, transportation and structural engineering services from planning stage, through compliance and tender stages and into the construction stage for Ardstone’s development at Two Oaks, Scholarstown Road.

Eight blocks of apartments between 5-6 storeys in height comprising 480 residential units were constructed using a precast concrete superstructure. The penthouse level structure consists of a lightweight steel frame with precast concrete roof slab. Three of the blocks were constructed above a combined reinforced concrete basement with 180 car parking spaces. There are 120 duplex units in nine three-storey blocks constructed with traditional masonry loadbearing walls, precast floors and timber roof trusses. A crèche, retail, and Amenity Block also formed part of the scheme.

DBFL’s scope of work included upgrading pedestrian and cycle facilities along Scholarstown Road and design of surface water drainage, foul drainage and water supply infrastructure within the site.

The development’s surface water strategy incorporates SUDS methodologies such as green roofs, permeable paving, tree pits and below / above ground attenuation.

A strategic 450mm diameter foul sewer, required as part of Uisce Éireann Irish Water’s Ballycullen / Oldcourt Reinforcement Project, traverses the site. DBFL undertook design of the section of pipeline traversing the site and co-ordinated the route with Irish Water.
