DBFL Attends Opening of The Airton Road Extension Scheme!
DBFL were delighted to recently attend the official opening of The Airton Road Extension Scheme. The event was marked by the presence of Minister James Browne TD, Mayor Baby Pereppadan, and South Dublin County Council Chief Executive Colm Ward, along with other council representatives.
The project involved the construction of a new link road connecting Belgard Road to Cookstown Industrial Estate. The scheme included segregated cycle facilities and high-quality pedestrian facilities over the length of the scheme with new signalised junctions at Belgard Retail Park and Cookstown Industrial Estate. The scheme will support the future development of the Cookstown area and encourage a modal shift to active modes of travel such as cycling and walking.
DBFL prepared the Detailed Design & Tender Documents and provided Contract Administration and Resident Engineering services for the construction stage. The scheme was delivered by Murphy, with a strong collaborative effort among all stakeholders. In addition to the transportation aspects of the scheme, the project incorporated strategic wastewater and district heating infrastructure to further support sustainable growth in the area.
