Safe Routes to School Success in Belgooly
A truly transformational project! DBFL and Áit Urbanism + Landscape are delighted to support Cork County Council’s ambitious Safe Routes to School (SRTS) projects funded by the National Transport Authority.
The Safe Routes scheme has seen travel by car to Belgooly National School Cork school dip by 60%!
The aim of the SRTS initiative is to support active lifestyles for staff, students and parents by providing a safer, accessible and attractive environment to support an increase in ‘last mile’ walking, wheeling and cycling to school. The project included the provision of new footpaths, crossing facilities and traffic calming as well as ‘best in class’ Sustainable urban Drainage (SuDs) systems and landscaping. We are delighted with the success of the project at Belgooly and look forward to delivering more SRTS schemes across Cork and nationwide.
