Donnybrook Church Junction
Following a comprehensive site audit, data collection and stakeholder consultation exercise, DBFL investigated the opportunity of addressing the stakeholders existing concerns and operational constraints by redesigning the junctions in response to the current sustainability focused policy framework and international best practice guidance. The resulting re-balancing of priority awarded sustainable modes of travel the appropriate level of service through the provision of dedicated infrastructure along key travel desire lines. The ‘metering’ of general traffic and the reassignment of road carriageway coupled with the provision of new infrastructure formed the basis of all four identified ‘Do-Something’ scheme options. Ranging from Do-Minimum through to more complex Do-Maximum schemes the four identified options provided an increasing range of safety, priority and quality of service benefits in parallel with increasing cost, land take and environmental (River Dodder and mature trees) parameters.
DBFL successfully completed the following principal tasks;
1) Initial site audits, road user audits, data collection and traffic surveys.
2) Key Stakeholder Consultation
3) Scheme Option Development
4) Network modelling and scheme simulations (TRANSYT)
5) Option Appraisal
6) Preliminary Design
7) Scheme costings
